Community Corner

Albemarle County is a home for many community resources and activities designed to encourage flourishing children and families. As we learn of these resources, we will post them to this Community Corner page. We are not endorsing the services but want to make the information available to you.

Many events are on hiatus during this time of social distancing but many more resources are available for families who need help. The SupportCville.com site has a comprehensive list of services including funds for for those experiencing hardship, funds for restaurant workers, food, medication support, legal services and health services. Remember, we will get through this together.

Camp Holiday Trails is an overnight camp for children with medical needs. Our Campers, ages 7-17, are welcomed from throughout the United States with the majority coming from the Mid-Atlantic region. Our staff creates a positive camp experience that has impact lasting long beyond the summer weeks. At CHT, our medical support allows campers to take safe risks and try new activities and experiences.  We engage campers in traditional camp activities such as: archery, canoeing, high & low ropes, climbing wall, arts and crafts, horsemanship, swimming, athletics, nature, and music designed to build self-confidence, increase social competence, improve independence around personal medical care, and foster community.

Light House Studio equips young people with the skills and confidence to tell their stories and build community through collaborative filmmaking. We seek to foster a community where Charlottesville’s young people flourish as students, storytellers, and citizens.
